Location

Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.

Job Summary

The Financial Aid Counselor will assist in the administration of federal, state and institutional student aid programs for the student population of traditional and non-traditional students. The individual will work closely with prospective and continuing students and families in planning and coordinating the funding of their education through eligible student loans, grants, scholarships, and other financial arrangements. The Financial Aid Counselor will provide financial aid counseling and processing for all students.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the management of electronic processing, originating, and transmitting records to COD, through the use of EdConnect and Banner Software
  • Perform complex financial aid processes such as: determining student aid eligibility, packaging and awarding, accommodating for overlapping academic and loan periods, and disbursing loan funds, while maintaining accurate financial aid documentation to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations
  • Provide financial aid counseling to students and parents regarding application procedures and eligibility requirements for student aid programs, and assist students and their families with the application forms
  • Represent the Office of Financial Aid at various student recruitment functions, financial aid information sessions, orientation programs, and Federal Direct Stafford Loan Entrance and Exit counseling sessions
  • Assist with the implementation of a default management plan
  • Monitor ASU aid expenditures and aid recipients' Satisfactory Academic Progress according to policy
  • Assist with preparation of Student Financial Aid publications, policies, manuals and forms
  • Attend off-campus workshops, department meetings, and travel to in-state and out of state conferences
  • Perform outreach duties; conduct Financial Aid workshops on campus and at local high schools
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, preferably with course work in higher education, finance, and/or a business discipline. An associates degree plus two years of experience can be substituted for the Bachelors degree.

At least two (2) years of Professional Financial Aid experience, or relevant work experience required.
Experience with online student information systems and personal computers required.
Knowledge of Banner, COD, and NSLDS required.

Preferred Qualifications

Customer service experience in higher education preferred
