Position Summary: Assistant Professor of Voice

 

Department: School of Music

 

The College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media at the University of Nebraska at Omaha invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Voice to join the School of Music, an established and comprehensive college music program of undergraduate and graduate students at a metropolitan university.  Primary teaching responsibilities for this position include applied voice with additional teaching assignments in voice-related courses. We seek candidates who have demonstrated the potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team, and are dedicated to a supportive and inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population.  Research/creative activity and service are expected in this position.  Start date for this position is August 14, 2023.  The selected candidate will teach applied voice, with an ability to teach a diverse range of vocal styles; teach voice-related courses; continue or develop a research/creative activity agenda; and provide service to the School, College, and University.  Additional expectations include a willingness to contribute to all aspects of department life including active involvement in the recruitment, retention and mentoring of students; have strong communication and organizational skills; and a commitment to community engagement.

 

Required Qualifications: Master of Music in performance; college level teaching experience beyond the graduate-assistantship level; and evidence of success as a performing artist.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Mezzo-soprano, Tenor, or Baritone/Bass; professional performance experience; experience recruiting students at the college level; doctorate in voice.

 

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The School of Music, one of three schools within the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media, is located in its own performing arts complex. With a faculty of 45, the School enrolls approximately 244 students and offers the Bachelor of Music degree with concentrations in Music Education and Performance; the Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in Music Studies, Music Technology, Jazz, and Entrepreneurship; and the Master of Music degree with concentrations in Conducting, Music Education, and Performance.
