Position Title: Tenure-line or Tenured Professors (Open rank) in Human and Organizational Development
The Department of Human and Organizational Development (HOD) invites applications for a tenure-line or tenured professors at the assistant, associate, or full level in Human and Organizational Development.
Candidates will join a department that focuses on exploring human and organizational development in context. Scholars with knowledge of applicable theories, methods, and interventions that promote social change or who study the role of groups and organizations in creating change in communities, organizational culture, or intragroup/intergroup relations are encouraged to apply.
HOD is an interdisciplinary department that takes a critical approach to understanding social problems, with a particular sensitivity to social, economic, and racial inequities. Scholarship is focused on issues and interventions related to social problems in urban and rural communities (e.g., affordable housing/homelessness, gentrification, community and youth violence), understanding how organizations and communities promote change (e.g., the social functioning of businesses and nonprofit organizations, multi-sector coalitions, community/school partnerships), and how individuals and groups develop and function to solve problems and promote social change (e.g., service learning, youth and young adult psychosocial and sociopolitical development). Also, we value methodologies that can capture the complexities individual, organizational, and community development (e.g., geographic information systems, participatory action research, social network analysis, qualitative and quantitative analyses).
Area of specialization is open, but the ideal candidate would be aligned with one or more of HOD’s interest areas. Scholars in psychology, sociology, geography, organizational studies, human development, and allied social sciences pursuing any methodological approaches are welcome. Successful candidates will have a productive research program, excellent teaching credentials, and the demonstrated capacity to provide leadership and enhance instruction at the graduate and undergraduate level. A track record or potential for external funding is preferred. Interest and/or experience in administrative leadership would be a plus.
The candidate will teach and mentor students in the undergraduate program in Human and Organizational Development, the doctoral program in Community Research and Action, and, depending on area of research, our master’s programs in Community Development and Action, Human Development Studies, and/or Human Development Counseling.
