Job Summary

The Data Specialist II performs specific phases of evaluation, data gathering, data analysis, and data summary for the EDA’s Good Job Challenge Grant and associated projects within the Regional Economic Research Institute.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Collects data and resolves data discrepancies.
  • Uses relational databases to keep project records and generate reports.
  • Drafts portions of publications or training manuals. Produces graphs, charts and tables from data.
  • Places information on the project website, including data gathering forms. Investigates related websites for format and content.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years of relevant full-time experience in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Two year of relevant full-time experience in Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Demography, Geography, Statistics and Computer Science or closely related field.
  • One year of experience in working with Salesforce, and R, Stata or Python.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data.
  • Skill in collecting and analyzing complex data, and proficiency with web-based databases.
  • Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and learn new applications and systems.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.

This is a grant funded position through 2025. Employment following the conclusion of the grant is contingent upon a secured source of funding and is not guaranteed.
