An adjunct position is open in the Master’s in School Leadership Program at Providence College. EDU 512 School and Community Engagement: Promoting Culturally Responsive Schools focuses on how school leaders engage stakeholders (parents, businesses, politicians, family support agencies, etc.) as allies in the academic and social/emotional development of students. Challenges to equity and diversity are confronted. Candidates explore implicit bias and its impact on leading culturally responsive schools that support an asset-based view of students who are multi-lingual or have varying learning abilities.
Essential Duties
This course will run in the spring semester (January through May), starting January 2023 and possibly during one other semester in the year (either summer or fall).

This position includes the following additional expectations:
· Participation in a 1.5 hour faculty meeting every six weeks
· Participation in program accreditation preparation and visits
· Participation in ongoing program improvement efforts
· Participation in individual student advisory meetings which serve as program assessments and culminating presentations Education and Experience Required
A Master’s in Education and substantial experience in the following areas:
· Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: This course has a major emphasis on DEI . Students are required to write a cultural autobiography following the template provided by … . They explore their personal and professional bias and the impact it may have on their school leadership.
· Community/School-based Partnerships: Students are asked to visit a community-based agency, such as mental health clinic, a community action program, a local health clinic, etc. and establish a theoretical partnership between their school and the agency.
· Parent Engagement: Instructors need experience interacting with parents, families, and children. They must demonstrate proficiency in interpersonal relations with families, in oral and written communication with parents, in teacher/parental interactions, in raising parental awareness, and engaging parents in a meaningful way in their children’s education.
