Tenure-Track Faculty Position

College of Natural and Social Sciences

Position:

Department of Psychology

Assistant Professor of Psychology

Starting Date:

August, 2023

Minimum Qualifications:

1) An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in clinical psychology or other closely-related disciplines from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required; however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For appointment, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/17/2023).

2) Evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.

3) Evidence of publications in scholarly journals.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Demonstrated expertise in a closely-related discipline such as health psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis (e.g., behavior therapy, functional-analytic therapy), or urban psychology.

2) Evidence of experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students in a research setting.

3) Demonstrated expertise working in diverse communities or urban settings.

4) Licensed or license eligible in Clinical Psychology or closely related area in the State of California.

Duties:

The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.  These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.

The Department/Division/School:

The Psychology Department includes 18 tenured/tenure-track faculty representing a range of disciplines. The department serves approximately 1600 undergraduate students majoring in psychology and approximately 50 graduate students in two graduate programs: General Psychology MA and Forensic Psychology MS. Faculty members are equally committed to fostering service that promotes social justice in our local and global communities and incorporating cultural issues in curriculum, research, and mentoring.
