Job Summary: The Advance College Project (ACP) at Indiana University Bloomington seeks applicants for a Math Instructional Consultant. This is a 12-month rate basis, renewable position. Conditions: Reappointment annually and decision for long-term contract made in the sixth year. Continuation of this contract is based on effective performance of assigned duties and continuing programmatic needs.

The new hire’s primary responsibility will be to align dual-enrollment classes taught in Indiana high schools with the Math courses taught by regular faculty on the IU campus. Duties will include:

· Evaluating teachers who apply to teach college Math courses as dual enrollment courses

· Conducting site visits in person and virtually to IUB-supervised high school courses

· Writing an annual review for each of the IUB teacher in the dual-enrollment program

· Running a professional development workshop each year

· Running summer training institute(s) for new teachers

· Maintaining and reviewing the standardized Math course syllabi

· Maintaining and disseminating teaching materials

· Working closely with the IU ACP dual-enrollment office and Math Department

· Participating in professional organizations and knowledge of current information regarding best practices in secondary and higher education

· Maintaining ongoing professional growth in the education field and participate in focused study groups and inquiry with colleagues and other educators

The responsibilities of each day will be varied and determined by the leadership demands of the individuals and cohorts concerned. This challenging position will require a person to be an administrative and academic leader, and a facilitator of both the project and ACP cohorts. The person in this position will have the ability to exercise independent judgment following general expectations and provide leadership. This individual will be in constant contact with university and project personnel, secondary school officials, and various representatives of supporting campuses, agencies and organizations. This colleague will need to exercise tact and expertise in all areas of communication with clients as well as other colleagues.

When needed the new hire will teach up to one course per semester for the Math Department at IUB that correspond to the ACP Math course offerings or equivalents: M125/127, M118, M119, M211, M212. Teaching duties will be compensated separately by the College of Arts and Sciences on a $8500 per course basis.

Expected start date is December 1, 2022.

Qualifications:

Required:
•    Master’s degree (PhD preferred)
•    3 or more years of successful teaching experience and education-related job experience in secondary and/or post-secondary school level.
•    Experience in the facilitation of curricula and research-based instruction at the secondary and/or post-secondary level.
•    Experience in the use of technology to develop and disseminate professional information and resources.

Preferred:
•    General understanding of the state’s K-12 school system and the implications for dual-enrollment programs.
•    Experience in working directly with administrators and teachers in the implementation of programs: alignment of curricula to program standards and assessments, reporting and/or evaluation requirements, and technical assistance for strong implementation of the program.

Abilities:
•    Ability to manage multiple tasks with success and high quality outcomes.
•    Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to support the development of ACP instructors.
•    Ability to plan, organize, and implement technical assistance for schools at each stage of the process (recruiting, training, implementing, and evaluating).
•    Ability to demonstrate successful interpersonal skills and serve as a liaison within the university, constituents, and with related interest groups.

Base salary:

12 Month, renewable appointment with salary range $50,000-$52,000 depending on qualifications
