Job Description:

The Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences at Longwood University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biology at the Assistant Professor level to begin in August 2023.

We seek a broadly trained molecular biologist whose research interests will complement those of our faculty. Teaching responsibilities include genetics, introductory biology, and upper-level courses in the candidate's area of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach biochemistry and/or microbiology.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D., a strong commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching, the potential to develop a successful research program in an undergraduate setting, dedication to quality advising of students and supervision of undergraduate research, and commitment to service to the University and local communities.  The standard teaching load is 12 contact hours per semester.  The University will provide dedicated research space as well as modest start-up funding.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, tenure-track, instructional faculty position.  Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience.  Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position.  A successful criminal background investigation is required.   AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
