Job Description:

The Senior Counselor is a term, 10-month, renewable position that provides mental health counseling, clinical consultation, and outreach/prevention programs that address the mental health needs of the SUNY Cobleskill student population.  Responsibilities include assessment and evaluation, individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, referrals, workshops, presentations and outreach activities.  This position is part of a multidisciplinary team at our integrated Health and Counseling Wellness Center.

Requirements:

• Minimum of a master degree in counseling, psychology or social work.
• Licensed in the state of New York to practice Mental Health counseling.
• At least 1-year experience providing mental health services
• Competency working with a variety of presenting diagnosis/needs and ability to collaborate with relevant resources
• Specific experience with crisis assessment, crisis intervention, and risk management
• Commitment to and interest in working with a diverse student population with a variety of presenting issues as well as the ability to demonstrate multicultural competence.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Computer literacy
• Proven ability to make clinical and ethical decisions in a team-based environment. 
• Ability to develop, coordinate, and facilitate outreach activities or special projects
