Graduate Admissions Counselor

The Counselor (Professional Services Specialist IV) reports to the Associate Director of Graduate Admissions and is responsible for actively recruiting graduate students for enrollment at Kean University. The Counselor coordinates recruitment plans and represents the University in a variety of settings in-person and virtually; provides essential student support services; guides students through the application process; provides excellent customer service to prospective and current Kean University students and their families; and performs related work as required. This position is not remote. It requires extensive travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree; one year of professional experience in an enrollment management area in an institution of higher education or working directly with admissions, student recruitment and/or retention initiatives in a related field; transportation for recruitment travel; and a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey is required. Previous recruiter experience in an admissions office in an institution of higher education is preferred. Datatel Colleague and Ellucian Recruiter experience is also preferred. Essential job functions include driving and the ability to lift, handle and transport recruitment materials and equipment over short and long distances. Traveling will require the ability to drive for short and extended periods of time. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
