Associate or Full Professor of Community Engaged Digital Production

The Digital Technology and Culture (DTC) program at Washington State University invites applications for a permanent, full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Associate or Full Professor position in Pullman, WA, with a specialty in Community Engaged Digital Production. DTC is a growing program, and we are looking for candidates with established research/creative production trajectories and leadership. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2023.

The successful applicant will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their area of expertise. They will lead in the development of collaborative practices, spaces, and projects that engage the university and other publics and be an active part of the DTC faculty. Candidates will engage in creative production, scholarship, and research in their areas of expertise to extend and build on their existing portfolios; support current and emerging research, teaching, and creative activities in community engaged initiatives at WSU system wide, to external communities, and within the region. Successful candidates will also provide leadership within the unit.

This position will join a multi- and interdisciplinary faculty and a growing major. The DTC program values creative, collaborative, and publicly engaged scholarship that places an emphasis on explicitly anti-racist pedagogies, practices, and production in teaching, research, service, and scholarship that work to advance racial justice, reconciliation, and repair.

Qualifications: Candidates should have (i) an MFA, MDe, MAD, MGraph, or earned Ph.D. in Digital Media, Media Arts, Interactive Media, Immersive technologies, Digital Humanities, or related area by the time of hire; (ii) proven implementation of best pedagogical practices in classroom and/or individual instruction, mentorship, or internship; (iii) a demonstrated commitment to campus, department, and societal diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts; (iv) demonstrated leadership at the departmental level; and (v) a commitment to retention of underrepresented students and student-success initiatives.
