Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Worldwide is currently hiring adjunct faculty to teach MACY 515 - Foundations of Aviation Cybersecurity.

Course Description

This course examines how cybersecurity impacts the entire aviation ecosystem that includes the supply chain, manufacturing, maintenance, airports, and aircraft. Cyber threats to commercial airplanes, unmanned aircraft (drones), air traffic control, and aerospace will also be analyzed. The course will discuss the threats to aviation security and the recommended mitigations of those threats. Humans play a critical role in cybersecurity. They can be the weakest point of the attack or the first line of defense. This course will examine the role of humans in aviation cybersecurity. It will also review regulations and best practices in aviation cybersecurity and discuss how to incorporate them into an operational plan of securing aviation systems.

Please note that ERAU policy requires that all adjuncts be physically located within the United States while working for the University, including during training. Presently, we are able to support work for new adjuncts from all U.S. states except California . ERAU does not support work from international locations with some limited exceptions for individuals who are residing and working from U.S. military bases.

Qualifications

Applicant Qualifications

A minimum of a Doctorate degree in discipline is required (please see list of acceptable disciplines below), as well as relevant industry experience from within the last 7 years.

Applicable Professional Certification
  • Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

  • Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC)

  • CompTIA Security+

  • Specific industry, military or university training, or experience in aviation cybersecurity or general cybersecurity development or operations.
