The Department of Computer Science at Rice University invites applications for a non-tenure track lecturer position. The primary responsibilities of lecturers are to teach and to carry out service within the department. Applicants with teaching expertise in any area of computer science will be considered.

This position requires teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Computer Science, both in-person and online. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds. Candidates with particular interest and/or demonstrated accomplishments in building diverse and inclusive teaching environments should indicate as much in their diversity statement.

Once at Rice, lecturers may be considered for an Assistant Teaching Professor position, with appropriate approvals. In addition to teaching and service, Teaching Professors at all ranks are expected to contribute to the application and dissemination of pedagogical practices and carry out service related to teaching. They are neither required nor expected to carry out disciplinary research but may pursue such research or research related to their education mission. Assistant Teaching Professors are eligible to be promoted through the teaching-track ranks.

This position is expected to start by August 2023, with a possibility of an earlier start date.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in computer science or a related discipline or must complete the Ph.D. by November 1 of the year employment commences.
