Alfred University's College of Liberal Arts & Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Education to begin August 2023. We seek an Education generalist--prepared to teach in some of the areas listed below--for a growing program in Teacher Education. We seek an educator committed to excellence in the field of teacher education who will help students connect theory and practice in the classroom and who brings a current understanding of pedagogical best practices, with an emphasis on educational technology. This position provides opportunities to mentor graduate and undergraduate students and to expand our programs in Early Childhood/Childhood Education and Adolescent Education.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching courses in one or more of the following areas:
- Educational Psychology/Psychological Foundations
- Math and Science Education
- Childhood/Early Childhood Education Methods
- Integrated Teaching Methods
- Adolescent Education Methods
- Graduate Literacy Program
- Math for the Elementary Teacher
- Classroom Technology
- Supervision of student teaching field experience
- Pursuing an active program of scholarly inquiry
- Advising and mentoring students
- Engaging in service to the Education Division, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the University, our community and the profession.
- Earned doctorate desired, ABD considered (for Instructor rank).
- PK-12 Classroom Teaching Experience
- Experience with Educational Technology
- Student Teacher Supervision
- Work with academically, culturally, and economically diverse learners in inclusive classroom settings.
- Use of Education Theory to inform teaching practice
