Job Description:
The Director ensures the positive impact and long-term success of Minnesota State University, Mankato Student Health Service. This position leads, promotes, and evaluates the Student Health Service Department with primary responsibility for positioning the department to remain competitive in a changing environment.

Responsibilities and Results

 

  • Provide supervision and leadership for all Student Health Service staff, initiate and recommend personnel actions in compliance with five union contracts.
  • Oversee departmental policy review and policy development, emergency preparedness, AAAHC accreditation, assessment, quality assurance, and credentialing and privileging of professional staff.
  • Communicate effectively with students, organizations and the university community to promote a healthy campus environment.
  • Develop internal and external relationships such as with Student Affairs Council, American College Health Association, Blue Earth County Public Health and the State of Minnesota.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with Minnesota State Student Association and other student advocacy groups such as SHAC and peer educators.
  • Develop, implement and monitor the Health Service budget and administer fiscal operations for the department. Seek external funding for programs and services.
  • Comply with state and federal law in addition to accreditation requirements to ensure compliance and equitable service delivery.

 


Required Qualifications:

 

 

  • Master’s Degree in Health Sciences, Health Education, Health Care Administration, Business Administration or other health fields related to position responsibilities.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Health Education, Clinic Manager, or Health Care Administration.

  • Experience with or knowledge of topics such as quality assessment, accreditation, program evaluation, medical technology applications, health information management training, and federal and state health care regulations.

 

 

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

 

 

  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and external parties.

 

 


Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
