Job Summary
The Apple Device Management Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining UWM's technical infrastructure by performing moderately complex systems engineering work for non-routine and varied problems to ensure the long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are met. Duties will include:
  • Identifying, troubleshooting, researching, and resolving routine issues on varied systems, platforms, networks, and applications to ensure system security, confidentiality compatibility, and functionality according to policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Designing, installing, configuring tests, and maintaining routine and varied automation, hardware, and associated equipment according to customer specifications to meet unit objectives
  • Assisting with the planning and coordinating of system logistics, workflows, upgrades, and system security and affiliated procedures
  • Documenting and disseminating deployed systems, system upgrades, or changes to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures
  • Installing firewalls, host and client access mechanisms, permissions, and user accounts
  • Jamf Pro site management with special attention paid to the Legacy site and mobile devices
  • Device policy creation and management
  • Writing, updating, and reviewing scripts in GitLab



These responsibilities are conducted in a team environment, collaborating effectively with colleagues, leading, and participating fully on cross-functional teams with faculty, staff, and students. Campus Technology Support (CTS) strives to support the varied instructional, advising, research, and business functions of the campus while assisting with the mission to deliver excellence in education, service, and innovation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware
  • 1+ years of experience providing troubleshooting for Apple operating systems
  • 1+ years of experience supporting Mobile Device Management technology
  • 1+ years of experience providing customer support for issues with desktop hardware, desktop software or enterprise applications


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in information systems or related field by date of hire
  • Experience performing device imaging and provisioning, application deployment and device inventory using Jamf Pro or other similar tools
  • Experience configuring and deploying Apple devices in a managed environment
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting network equipment. This requires an understanding of network hardware, IP addressing, DNS, and routing
  • Experience providing support for Active Directory accounts, groups, and Office 365 services
  • Experience training, mentoring or assigning work to junior staff, especially students or interns
  • Experience working in higher education
