Buena Vista University (BVU) seeks a personable and community-oriented AmeriCorps Community Coordinator, who is a self-driven professional with the desire to mentor college students to make a difference. AmeriCorps is an opportunity for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to give their time and talent to strengthen communities.

The successful applicant will have the primary responsibility of serving as a mentor for BVU AmeriCorps members and providing them with the needed support for academic and personal success. They will brainstorm, identify, and develop civic engagement opportunities for BVU students to participate in. They will also serve with educators, volunteers, and non-profits to develop trainings, educational sessions based on the population being served and develop strategies to implement civic engagement into more areas of campus to meet community needs.

Qualified applicants must be highly motivated, personable, flexible, detail-focused, and adaptable to changing environments and possess excellent interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills. Bachelor's degree and a valid driver’s license are required. This 11-month (1700-hour) position is supported by the Iowa Campus Compact AmeriCorps program.

Stipend: The position is fully grant funded and includes a one-bedroom apartment on campus

Living Allowance: $22,000 stipend, paid bi-monthly

Education Award: Awarded upon successful completion of the full term of service. The member will receive an education award of $6495 from the National Service Trust.

A background check will be conducted on the final candidate.
