Instructional Designer II - UFRA

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
Utah Valley University is currently seeking an Instructional Designer II for UFRA! The Instructional Designer will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and scripting of curriculum content and instructional systems models and applications to produce instructional programs. Identifies instructional design needs and provides solutions that integrate learning theory, best practices, and appropriate technology. Provides recommendations for course design and development to include interface design, course architecture and navigation, content arrangement, sequencing of lessons, and use of assessments. Provides expertise requiring information on instructional design, processes, methodologies, timeliness, and costs. Required Qualifications:
This is a ladder position. Applicants can be selected for either of the following levels based on their experience:

Level II: Graduation from an accredited institution with with a Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Technology, Education, or a related field and one year experience related to the essential duties or equivalent education and experience totaling seven years.
Level III: Graduation from an accredited institution with with a Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Technology, Education, or a related field and two years’ experience related to the essential duties or equivalent education and experience totaling eight years.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
  • Knowledge and work-related experience developing technology enhanced curriculum, training programs, courses, and learning activities. Knowledge of learning theories, instructional design best practices, and project management principles.
  • Knowledge of multimedia production and basic budgeting principles.
  • Knowledge of content development software such as the Adobe Creative Suite.



Skills:
  • Demonstrated skills in the history of designing, developing, and delivering thoughtful and engaging training experiences.

Abilities:
  • Ability to professionally and positively interact with clients and subject matter experts.
  • Ability to collaboratively work with multimedia creative staff and contractors.
  • Ability to lead small teams and manage projects to include resource estimation and tracking.
  • Ability to analyze training needs and develop a training development plan that fits the needs of client budgets and timelines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to deconstruct complex technical subjects and write scripts for content, learning activities and video development.


Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Technology, Education, or a related field and 2 years’ experience related to the essential duties.

Physical Requirements:
Frequently sitting, rotating, stretching at a computer desk.
Frequently looking at a computer screen and typing.

Pay Range: $49,384 - $61,730
