About the Opportunity

Northeastern University's Multidisciplinary Graduate Engineering (MGEN) Department seeks highly motivated senior applicants, committed to teaching excellence, for the role of Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor at our campus in Arlington, VA. In this role, the Teaching Faculty will report directly to the Senior Program Director of the Information Systems program. The selected candidate is expected to teach, advise, as well as identify new and industry trending subjects for curriculum advancement.

The appointment title/rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

This position will report directly to the Senior Program Director of the Information Systems program and collaborate across the department. Successful candidates will be expected to teach six core or elective courses per year, and are willing to teach in the evenings, and during summer sessions if appropriate. Successful candidates will also incorporate hands on instructional elements (i.e. programming code, etc.) for graduate-level engineering curriculum in to their courses. The Assistant/Associate/Full Teaching Professor will develop course content, prepare academic activities and course delivery materials to support course objectives, advise students, work collaboratively to identify instructors, and perform service to the department, university, and profession.

Additional duties associated with this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Instruct and prepare students to improve relevance, rigor, and quality through teachings and course offerings
  • Counsels' students on academic advising and other academic matters
  • Responds to departmental and student inquiries
  • And other duties as required


A PhD in Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field is required by the appointment start date. The ideal candidate for this role will have a terminal credential in a related engineering field, experience in either higher education and/or a relevant engineering field (a requirement of 10+ years of experience in either higher education and/or a relevant engineering field will be required for higher level position applicants), and have experience working with a diverse student populations. The candidate will also have relevant industry experience and/or research in the areas such as: algorithm design and analysis, machine learning/AI , application engineering, cloud technologies, Blockchain, software driven networking, Cyber Physical Systems, software engineering/model driven design and architecture techniques, real-time 3D graphics, Metaverse design and deployment, digital twin technology, and other. Additionally, successful candidates will exhibit a commitment to teaching excellence, an ability to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, and have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is required.
