Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder's Industry and Foundation Relations team encourages applications for a Senior Development Assistant! This Development Assistant (DA) for Industry and Foundation Relations (IFR) is essential in providing administrative support for a highly skilled collaborative team within the Office of Advancement. This position is responsible for administrative duties that are variable and complex in nature and is tasked with exercising a high level of discretion and confidentiality, especially as it relates to assigned responsibilities with donors, faculty, and other constituents.

CU Boulder’s Industry & Foundation Relations (IFR) team is dedicated to building collaborative, mutually beneficial relationships with industry partners and foundations. In January 2020, the Corporate and Foundation Relations team, the Office of Industry Collaboration, and the industry and foundation-focused teams within the College of Engineering and Applied Science and the Leeds School of Business combined to form the Industry & Foundation Relations (IFR) team, which reports jointly to Advancement and the Research & Innovation Office . The new alignment builds on the core strengths of the staff already dedicated to building collaborative, mutually beneficial relationships with corporations and foundations. It also addresses challenges associated with having multiple CU Boulder groups working with the same external partners by improving strategic alignment and clarity of roles and responsibilities to provide a more seamless experience for industry and foundation partners.

The Industry & Foundation Relations (IFR) team connects local, national, and international companies to the people, services, projects, and resources they need to support business growth and development.

The streamlined IFR team is part of the university’s effort to deliver “a partner-centric strategy and an on-campus support team that aligns financial investment in the research, discovery, and creativity of Boulder’s faculty and students with satisfied corporate and foundation partners.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Office Management
  • Screens phone messages; prepares and submits expense reports; prepares purchase requisitions and travel arrangements and completes final paperwork; maintains office supply inventory.
  • Initiates, schedules, and coordinates internal and external meetings for the IFR team.
Administrative Support
  • Applies data from central database to create requested reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence.
  • Composes and prepares various administrative materials including financial and administrative reports and personal letters of invitation, thanks, explanation, information, and cultivation.
  • Monitors and records donations and event payments.
  • Assistance with special projects.
  • Interacts with numerous internal and external constituents, including major funders to the University; researches and captures information, and expedites flow of information to staff.
Donor/Stewardship Support
  • Conducts preliminary research on foundation and corporate donors and assists in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and prospective funders through research of available databases.
  • Updates donor database with notes, strategic plans, contact reports, and tasks to ensure the most current and relevant information is available.
  • Researches and resolves issues and discrepancies regarding donations, fund transfers, and new gift funds. Creates monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
  • Receives and responds to donor/constituent inquiries.
  • Process donor checks and gifts and prepare acknowledgment letters and related correspondence.
  • Draft briefing reports and background information to be used for cultivation and solicitation meetings.
  • Coordinate stewardship by capturing pertinent information and drafting stewardship letters and reports.

We anticipate this position will support a hybrid format (remote and in-person work).

What We Can Offer
  • The salary range for this full-time position is $54,000- $61,200 annually. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

What We Require
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Three years of administrative experience.
What You Will Need

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to operate personal computer w/ various software packages.
  • Ability to transcribe notes.
