The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Director of Institutional Research and Assessment in the Institutional Research and Assessment department. The Director of Institutional Research and Assessment reports directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs/Provost and is responsible for overseeing the operation of the office and also collaborates with various campus stakeholders on institutional research and assessment activities to support informed decision-making, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement. The Director oversees two professional staff and manages the budget for the Office of Institutional Research as well as research grants when available.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or the equivalent combination of training and experience
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of higher education research and data analysis, or other related field experience
  • Intermediate knowledge and comfort with report and query writing tools such as SPSS, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or Access
  • The ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and follow through on all project phases to completion
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical personnel
  • The ability to interact collaboratively and cultivate partnerships with departments
  • The ability to travel for training or meetings, both in and out of state


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral or Master's degree in a Social Science discipline (Education, Psychology, Public Policy) or Computer Science discipline
  • At least 2-3 years of teaching and/or assessment experience
  • Prior experience with adult learner institutions

Work Schedule:  Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, evenings and weekends as necessary.

Salary:  A typical salary for this position is in the mid-to high 80s and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
