Department Summary
The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. It is the steadfast goal of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide the most outstanding student-athlete experience by helping them to achieve excellence, both in the classroom and in their chosen sport. The department has approximately 250 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.
Position Summary
The Deputy Athletic Director is a member of the Athletic Director's Senior Leadership Team. The position supervises a broad range of sports programs. This position also has management responsibility for the Information Technology, Student-Athlete Development, and Athletic Medicine departments, as well as various departmental projects. Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Pac-12 Conference, and the NCAA.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Sports supervision experience, including experience with head
coaches' searches and coach evaluation.
- Minimum of five years of management experience, including
budget and supervisory experience.
- Conference / National Committee experience.
- Experience serving in an Athletic Department Senior Staff level
position at Division I Institution.
Professional Competencies
- Knowledge and experience with Title IX/gender equity
issues.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge and experience with NCAA compliance rules and
regulations.
- Candidates who promote and enhance diversity are strongly
desired
Preferred Qualifications
- Managing Title IX/gender equity issues within a
higher-education environment.
- Experience promoting an exceptional student-athlete
experience
