Indiana University Bloomington’s Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies seeks to fill two full-time lecturer positions in Korean language to begin August 1, 2023. The positions are 100% in HLS’s renowned multidisciplinary Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures (EALC). Each successful candidate will be appointed with an initial three-year contract, renewable annually, with promotion to senior lecturer and long-term contract in the sixth year for excellent performance.
Duties include a three-course workload per semester and active involvement in training and supervising graduate student teaching assistants, conducting placement tests, and other duties related to program management and development.
Minimum qualifications: MA in Korean language and linguistics, language pedagogy, applied linguistics or related field; native or near-native proficiency in Korean and English; prior experience and demonstrated success in teaching Korean at the college level in the U.S.
Applicants must be qualified to teach Korean language at all levels.
Required application materials: letter of application, C.V., diversity statement, teaching portfolio (e.g., course descriptions, sample syllabi, teaching evaluations, sample lesson plans, teaching material, assessments such as tests, etc.), graduate study transcripts, and three letters of reference. Applicants are also required to provide a URL to a 20-25 minute teaching demonstration.
