Director, Leadership Annual Giving



Position Summary:

As we enter into a comprehensive fundraising campaign, we are growing our exceptional team of passionate, mission-driven Advancement professionals, looking for a Director, Leadership Annual Giving. This position builds relationships, generates interest, and connects donors with their passions to attract funding for scholarship, experiential learning and faculty lead innovative programming.

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President of Advancement, the Director will provide leadership, oversight, and management of a comprehensive Leadership Annual Giving (LAG) program that has grown to raise $4M-$5M annually. In collaboration with the Sr. Associate Director and Team Lead, the Director oversees management of a talented LAG team which consists of 7 regionally assigned and 2 affinity based gift officers who formally qualify, cultivate, and solicit contributions between $25,000 - $100,000 to support initiatives around scholarships, hands-on learning, and faculty excellence. It also consists of a Digital Outreach Program and Stewardship and LAG Outreach which are both geared toward qualification and pipeline building. This role will be responsible for reviewing team metrics and analytics and coaching the team on the development of prospect strategies that will impact campaign goals and increase the overall pipeline. In addition to the overall program and team management, the Director will be responsible for managing their own portfolio of 50-60 prospects with both Leadership annual and major gift capacity.

The Director, Leadership Annual Giving will coordinate with leadership in Major, Principal, and Planned giving and their gift officers to ensure strategic cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of lead annual gift prospects as well as appropriate transfer and movement through the pipeline. They will work with Prospect Research on portfolio management, prospect identification, reporting and data mining.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree
6 years of experience in university development or non-profit fundraising
2 years of successful management or leadership experience
Experience managing a portfolio and soliciting/securing five and six figure gifts
Experience meeting targeted fundraising goals and objectives
Ability to work collaboratively on a team and meet performance deadlines in a dynamic environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations
A self-starter with the ability to multitask
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Must have a valid driver’s license, possess a low risk driving record and be insurable by the University.
Must be willing to travel and work some weekend and evening hours on occasion.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

10+ years of experience in University development or non-profit fundraising
3+ years of successful management experience
Demonstrated successful experience in:
- problem solving
- applying organizational skills to a fundraising or sales position held
- developing short term and long-term strategies for prospects
- providing customer service
- adapting to changing needs and environment
- effectively managing multiple, concurrent tasks
- maximizing results by defining and following a plan
- developing and maintaining relationships
- exercise good judgment in discussing alumni, issues and results.

Commitment to personal integrity and a strong work ethic that align to the University's Catholic/Marianist character
Proficiency in using advancement database (i.e. Raiser's Edge, SalesForce, etc.)
Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
