Job Role

This position will work closely with other stakeholders to ensure student retention at AIU throughout the students’ lifecycle. In this role, you will supervise the overall operations of the student success center and the coordination of a variety of services to help students to succeed outside the classroom. This includes but is not limited to academic advising, and individualize and group tutoring through the writing Clinic, Math lab, English Foundation Program, and other academic disciplines offered by AIU.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement creative retention strategies to engage students and support student success during their time at AIU.
• Hire peer tutors, and teaching assistants in coordination with VPAA.
• Prepare and approve timesheets for all tutors and teaching assistants.
• Provide training for all tutors and teaching assistants.
• Plan and provide small group and individualized tutoring.
• Maintain a working relationship with faculty to provide tutoring assistance to students.
• Plan, direct, and review the activities and operations of student tutoring and academic advising.
• Provide support accessibility to online courses.
• Maintain strong communication with tutors, faculty, and other departments regarding the Center programs and services.
• Identify, plan, market, advertise and execute a series of in-house presentations to provide information and training on the center services.
• Promote the services of the Student Success Center to the AIU community and share success stories.
• Proactively identify at-risk students and implement effective mentoring and advisory strategies.
• Articulate and supervise academic advisors and maintain student advising study plans.
• Coordinate with VPAA and Deans the advising process and availability of faculty to support academic advising.
• Coordinate and maintain data on retention and student success.

  Qualifications:

   

   

   

• Master’s degree minimum in a relevant field
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in higher education institutions with experience related to student success.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to work nontraditional hours, as necessary.
• Knowledge of current employment and recruiting trends.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
