SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

To lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of an electronic key and cylinder system. Works to support the Supervisor of Maintenance and Executive Director of Facilities in the administration of a campus-wide key policy. To ensure that all key records are accurate and current.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Leads the creation of a comprehensive plan for implementation of the electronic key system to include, but not be limited to product acquisition, coordination of installation, and software maintenance.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date key holder records.
  • Performs software programming of keyholder access profiles in alignment with the campus-wide key policy.
  • Assists departments in the management of access to departmental spaces to include managing lockboxes.
  • Performs audit and access reports for both keys and cylinders as directed by the Supervisor of Maintenance in accordance with the campus-wide key policy.
  • Cuts and distributes manual keys as needed.
  • Works cooperatively with Residence Life Staff to assess fines for lost keys and to coordinate the distribution of new keys for incoming keyholders.
  • Works cooperatively with Security staff to ensure that keyholder access profiles align with card access profiles when appropriate.
  • Works with Human Resources to implement security protocols in the event of termination or administrative leave.
  • Assists staff and faculty in the adoption and observance of safe and secure key practices.
  • Performs routine maintenance on door hardware including, but not limited to closers, hinges, drop rods, panic hardware, locksets, strikes, latches, etc.
  • Assists other Facilities staff when required.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of locks, cylinders, and door hardware.
  • Performs other college related duties as required by the Supervisor of Maintenance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma
  • 5 years previous experience and exposure to facility operations to include: general maintenance, software/database management, locksmithing, door repair
  • Ability to comprehend and issue oral and written instructions
  • Satisfactory work record and attendance
  • Valid State motor vehicle operators license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience cutting keys, removing and installing cylinders
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Moderate work: exerting in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or an excess of 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions.
