Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder Athletics Department encourages applications for a Head Line Cook! This is a hands-on culinary position that provides oversight and leadership in the University of Colorado Athletic Dining Facility. Under the supervision of the Executive and Sous Chefs, prepares, assigns and delegates standardized recipe preparation, ensuring quality, allergen and food safety standards. This position offers outstanding customer service in a team oriented and supported environment.
This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Pac 12 Conference and the NCAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Kitchen Preparation & Operation
  • Prep, assemble and delegate food preparation tasks.
  • Assist with the set-up and breakdown of production and service areas.
  • Understand and use a variety of equipment and service standards as appropriate.
  • Follow and enforce set food safety protocol.
  • Ensure cleanliness and quality in all areas of the kitchen.
Quality Assurance
  • Follow all food safety and allergen standards.
  • Full comprehension of allergen labeling protocols including avoidance of cross-contact, requesting labels and recognizing errors.
Customer Service
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist with customer needs and inquiries.
  • Lead by example both in general work ethic and positive, productive demeanor.
  • Display and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
What You Should Know

What We Can Offer
  • The salary range is $34,000 - $36,500 annually.
  • Additional Compensation Details:
    • Relocation is available within department guidelines. Additional Athletics benefits include: Athletic Event Tickets: Per Athletic Department Policy and NCAA regulations, Nike Elite Employee Benefit: Per Nike Elite Policy.

What We Require
  • One year of work experience in food service industry. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • ServSafe certified with in 6 months of start date.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and be flexible in scheduling per operational needs.
What You Will Need
  • Ability to follow recipes and food preparation instructions.
  • Ability to handle a variety of kitchen equipment to prepare food.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure kitchen.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to teach and maintain safe food handling practices.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • One year of work experience as a line cook.
  • Experience in retail and high volume dining.
