The Department of Social Medicine in the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking an Assistant Professor with expertise in medical ethics and related areas to conduct research and develop and teach medical ethics content in our integrated medical curriculum. The Department of Social Medicine and Heritage College are committed to and value diversity, inclusion, and health equity.

 

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an active research program in medical ethics (bioethics, clinical ethics, medical law, and/or healthcare ethics). Collaborate closely with faculty members across the three Heritage College campuses to develop and teach curricular content in medical ethics (i.e., learning objectives, team-based learning sessions, resources, assessments) in a team-based learning environment. Participate in small group coaching and mentoring of osteopathic medical students. Provide service including interviewing prospective candidates for admissions to the Heritage College, participating in college-planned outreach activities, serving as faculty representative to a student organization(s), etc.  Commit to ongoing professional development and/or advancement activities.

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., JD, DO, MD) in a relevant field with demonstrated scholarly accomplishments in medical ethics.  Candidates with ABD will be considered with verification of timeline for degree completion no later than May 31, 2023, is required.
