Job Description:

The Department of Business at Rhodes College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position beginning Fall 2023. The department offers accounting courses in conjunction with both its interdisciplinary undergraduate business major and its graduate Master of Science in Accounting. We seek a candidate who is committed to teaching, research, and service at a liberal arts college. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, an active research agenda, and a willingness to support the academic growth of students through advising, mentoring, and shared learning. Successful candidates will possess the skill, knowledge, and ability to teach both graduate and undergraduate accounting courses, and a willingness to help create new and innovative curricula. All areas will be considered, but an interest and willingness to teach data analytics, tax, and/or auditing is highly desirable. We offer a 3-2 teaching load with small class sizes for all tenure and tenure-track faculty. A doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., DBA) in accounting or a related field is required. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CGMA, CMA) are also desirable but not required. In addition to teaching and research, candidates will be expected to actively participate in service activities in the department, college, and the accounting profession. The Department of Business at Rhodes College believes that diversity and inclusion are critical to our success as an institution, and we seek to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool. Furthermore, Rhodes College is committed to supporting the work-life balance of its faculty.

A complete application will include 1) a cover letter that addresses the strengths you will bring as a teacher and scholar to a liberal arts college environment; 2) a curriculum vitae; and 3) a separate statement that addresses how your experiences with teaching, scholarship, and/or service will contribute to a college community that includes a commitment to diversity and inclusion as one of its core values. In addition, under Additional Documents, you must include4) a separate statement that details both your teaching philosophy and your research focus including whether and how you bring your research into the classroom; 5) the names and contact information for three references (reference letters may be solicited later); and 6) teaching evaluations. Review of completed applications will begin October 15, 2022, and will continue until the position is filled. The names and contact information for three references may be requested at the committee's discretion. Background checks are required before candidates can be brought to campus for interviews.
