Adjunct - Digital Animation

Job Description

Missouri Western State University invites qualified candidates to apply for an adjunct teaching positions in our School of Fine Arts. Adjunct faculty will teach the following online Digital Animation courses in the current academic year:

Fall 2022 (8-week course beginning October 17, 2022)
Animation Fundamentals ( ART 210)

Spring 2023 (16-week courses beginning January 17, 2023)
Design Software Applications ( ART 129)
Motion Graphics ( ART 250)
Character Animation ( ART 358)
Advance Digital Sculpting ( ART 455)
Digital Animation Portfolio ( ART 485)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

Adjunct professors are hired by schools on a contractual, part-time basis who are not on the tenure track. Adjuncts are often hired to teach a specific course that regular faculty may not have expertise in or courses that have great demand. These positions require great flexibility and provide the opportunity to give back to the community.

Teaching: Teach undergraduate students in a specific field of expertise; participation in programs that promote instructional development in the discipline; develop and manage curricular materials, ensuring that they meet departmental and university standards, as well as the university’s applied-learning mission.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
• Excellent teaching skills with an ability to coordinate with the faculties and students from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to engage large groups of people with complicated material
• Able to teach with appropriate real-world experience
• Able to demonstrate confidence teaching and presenting in a public forum
• Technologically adept: can utilize electronic communications, online learning management systems, and other forms of technology related to the position
• Passionate about specific academic fields and education in general
• Clearly understands curriculum design, pedagogy, and learning outcomes assessment

Required Qualifications
  • Candidates must have an M.F.A. in Digital Animation, Game Design, or related field, display a commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts institution.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Mac and PC computers, relevant software, and the ability to encourage critical thinking and problem solving is essential.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications

Physical Demands

• Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
