DePauw University invites applications for its Mary Rogers Field and Marion Field McKenna Distinguished Professorship in Creative Writing to begin August of 2023. This is an open-rank tenure-track position and candidates at all stages of their careers are invited to apply. Salary will be commensurate with rank and experience and will account for the distinguished nature of this appointment.

Candidates should be dedicated teachers and writers of short fiction who have achieved nationally-recognized distinction in their writing and whose work explores the intersections of race, identity and the lived experiences of people from Latinx and/or African American heritages. Candidates must hold an MFA or PhD in Creative Writing.

The Field Professor should be prepared to teach two courses per semester, including introductory creative writing courses, upper-level workshops in fiction writing, first-year seminar, and introductory literature courses in their specialty. Candidates should be prepared to teach creative writing and literature courses reflecting the experiences of communities of color. They should be willing to perform public readings of their work, lead occasional craft talks for students and faculty, and participate in department service and student advising. The Field Professor will also be provided funds to invite, in consultation with our department, a visiting writer for our Kelly Writers Series once a year ( https://www.depauw.edu/arts-and-culture/speakers/kellywriters/ ). Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, CV, statement of teaching philosophy and experience, a short writing sample (20 pages), evidence of teaching excellence (such as course evaluations or syllabi), and three letters of recommendation to Interfolio.
