Assistant Professor of Theatre Performance

The Department of Theatre and Dance in the College of Music and Performing Arts at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 1, 2023.

Job responsibilities include Provide instruction in theatre performance and related courses in theatre, such as acting for stage and screen, voice, movement, and/or directing.   The successful candidate will have experience teaching a broad range of introductory and advanced-level acting for stage and screen courses, and/or directing courses for majors, minors, and/or non-majors (general education). Courses may include Acting, Basic Acting for non-Majors, Acting for the Camera, Voice, Movement, Directing, Audition Portfolio, and/or Theatre Experience. This position will include directing mainstage and secondary productions as part of the Belmont Theatre and Dance season as well as serving as the Coordinator for the theatre minor. Participation in recruiting locally and nationally is expected. The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in field (ABD considered). A professional profile in theatre, film, and/or television, union membership, and professional affiliations are preferred qualifications.

Knowledge of undergraduate theatre performance curricula preferred.
Teaching experience in performance-based courses at the collegiate level, such acting for stage and screen, voice, movement, and/or directing.
Acting, voice, and movement techniques specific to stage and film performance.
