Job Description

Reporting to the associate director, the Accessible Materials Coordinator serves as a full-time administrative/professional faculty member. The Accessible Materials Coordinator provides direct services to students seeking course materials in an alternative format (e-text, large print, Braille, etc.), notetaking support, and assistive technology support. The Accessible Materials Coordinator must demonstrate a commitment to equity, knowledge about disability services, and appreciation for human diversity. The Accessible Materials Coordinator works to ensure students with disabilities receive equal access to university programs, in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Core Responsibilities:
• The position will consult with faculty and staff to advise on the accessibility of course materials for students with disabilities and accessibility features for supported instructional technology.
• Plan, prepare, and perform the conversion of required academic materials into alternate formats to be utilized by students with print-based disabilities, including blindness/low-vision, learning disabilities, and mobility impairments
• Coordinate with members of the accommodations team to ensure students receive accessible material accommodations such as: note taking support, alternate format text, accessible furniture coordination, and assistive technology training.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with campus partners to support the creation of accessible course materials.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:
• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent amount of experience working in disability services in higher education.
• Experience communicating effectively with multiple stakeholders
• Experience working in the field of disability services, rehabilitation services, higher education, social work, etc.
• Strong organizational skills to effectively manage multiple requests and competing deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering technical training to a non-technical audience
• Ability to use a wide variety of popular assistive technologies (e.g., Dragon NaturallySpeaking, ZoomText, Kurzweil, JAWS, and built-in accessibility features in Google, Microsoft, Windows, Apple, Adobe, etc.)
