We are seeking a Project Administrator. The Project Administrator serves as a key leader for Proven Tutoring, a nonprofit initiative supported by the Center for Research and Reform in Education (CRRE). The position is responsible for fostering a collective voice among a coalition of tutoring providers that disseminate well-structured, rigorously researched tutoring models.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Working closely with the CRRE team and coalition partners, the Project Administrator will design and implement a strategic plan that aims to do the following
- Expand the coalition by identifying and engaging other organizations with tutoring models that have strong evidence of success in tutoring programs.
- Execute an outreach effort that develops awareness of proven tutoring models as a means of diminishing learning gaps and engages practitioners with coalition partners.
- Provide technical assistance to states, districts, and schools on the selection and sustaining of research-proven tutoring options.
- Support coalition partners in scaling proven programs.
- Securing funding for Proven Tutoring.
- Ensuring and communicating that funding requirements are
met.
- Creating and monitoring a budget that reflects the strategic use of resources to fulfill the program’s goals.
In collaboration with the CRRE Team, this position is responsible for the following
- Developing and implementing a process for reviewing promising
tutoring models.
- Developing and implementing an onboarding process for new
coalition partners.
- Developing procedures and a calendar of events that enable
coalition partner engagement.
- Nurturing relationships with each partner to foster collaboration.
Communications – 20%
In collaboration with the CRRE Team, this position is responsible for the following
- Maintaining ProvenTutoring.org, the central hub of information
regarding research-proven models.
- Designing and implementing a communications plan that promotes
the adoption of research-proven tutoring models and targets
practitioners, policy-makers, and organizations invested in
educational equity. Elements of the plan include designing and
disseminating marketing collateral, planning and hosting events
that promote research-proven tutoring models and connect coalition
partners to educators. Developing and maintaining a social media
presence; writing and pitching op-eds and news stories to
mainstream and trade publications; creating and disseminating a
bi-monthly newsletter that communicates coalition work; and growing
a contact list of individuals that engage with Proven Tutoring. Use
available analytics to identify the most effective elements of the
communications plan.
- Building partnerships with professional organizations in the
educational community as well as organizations that have a
commitment to educational equity.
- Building strong and effective communications with tutoring constituents at all levels.
In collaboration with the CRRE team, the position will be responsible for the following
- Designing and implementing a free consultation program to
engage with practitioners.
- Designing and implementing a process for engaging with
practitioners interested in research-proven tutoring
models.
- Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date understanding of
coalition partner capacity to serve schools in order to connect
schools with available options that address their most pressing
educational needs.
- Providing as-needed support to practitioners and tutoring
providers as they develop a partnership.
- Collaborate with districts to design tutoring pilots that utilize proven models.
In collaboration with the CRRE team and coalition, the position will be responsible for the following
- Working with each coalition partner to identify opportunities
for and challenges to scaling their proven program.
- Creating and testing innovative solutions to challenges that
can help partners scaling their proven programs.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- High-quality writing skills and social skills are
necessary.
- Innovative, creative thinking is a must, as is a team-friendly
and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work with legislative staffers and consultants to
advance the use of evidence in education programs.
- Knowledge of educational policy affecting schools and
districts, especially regarding tutoring.
- Proven track record of effective outreach efforts.
- Knowledge of tutoring programs and their focus.
- Ability to write reports and interact with organizations to
secure funding.
- Able to build partnerships with professional organizations such
as the Council of Chief State School Officers, Chiefs for Change,
National Association for Elementary/Secondary School Principals,
and others to disseminate information about the potential impact of
tutoring.
- Experience with creating and monitoring a budget.
- Ability to develop and implement a marketing plan.
- Ability to form relationships with new partners.
- Enough technical knowledge to be able to maintain established website, continue production of newsletter, and maintain a social media presence.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5 years of project management experience, ideally including related to supporting change in school.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, educational policy, or a related field.
- At least one years’ experience in managing an education-related program.
- Teaching experience is a plus.
