Job Details
Triage, process, and release of Medical Records for all Drexel Medicine practices both past and present adhering to Drexel University's guidelines. Reports directly to the Health Information Management Director.
Essential Functions
- Appropriately and accurately pulls records for patient care, quality review, and audits in a timely manner
- Observe confidentiality and safeguards all patient related information
- Coordinates the release of medical information to insurance companies, lawyers, state, and federal agencies. Processes routine subpoenas and court orders in coordination with the HIM director and the Risk Management department
- Verifies authorizations in accordance with Drexel’s University’s policy and procedures and state and federal laws. Sends out all protected health information securely in accordance with Drexel University’s Compliance and Privacy/departmental HIM policies and procedures
- Answers all emails addressed to the HIM department promptly. Answers and addresses HIM department’s telephone calls. Retrieves and answers all voice mails throughout the day
- Communicates all updates and issues to the requestors related to delays or issues with release
- High School Diploma or GED
- Medical Terminology required
- Minimum (2) years of experience using an electronic medical record system and practice management software
- Previous experience in an out-patient practice preferred
- Typically sitting at a desk/table
- Hybrid/Flexible Work Arrangement
