The Department of Sports Administration (DSA) in the College of Business at Ohio University is home to top world-ranked programs and the oldest sport management program in the world. We are recruiting for a Chairperson of the Department of Sports Administration (DSA) at the tenure-track rank of Associate or Full Professor. Preference will be given to individuals with a record of teaching and research with sport business or brand marketing experience. This position is in-person on campus in beautiful Athens, Ohio and is set to begin in August 16, 2021 or when filled. The teaching load for department chairs is two courses (three releases). 
 
The position includes expertise in sport business content areas and teaches in graduate and undergraduate programs. It also appreciates innovative teaching pedagogies and will assist in the continued development of both residential and online curricula. The DSA has a need in the areas of sport marketing, revenue generation, and event and facility management, but all content areas will be considered. 
 
The chairperson communicates and collaborates with students, faculty, sport business leaders, alumni, and other diverse internal and external constituencies. Additionally the chairperson provides leadership and personnel development within a complex organization while developing and executing an academic vision. A role within the College’s Executive Team as well as with DSA Alumni Advisory Board’s is also expected. 
 
 About Department of Sports Administration
The DSA is one of six departments in the College of Business and currently includes 13 full-time faculty members. The DSA offers one undergraduate and three graduate programs, as well as executive education. Currently, the DSA has approximately 400 undergraduate majors in Sport Management and 350 graduate students in its three graduate programs, the Master of Sports Administration, the Professional Master of Sports Administration, and the Master in Athletic Administration. 
 
With a 50 year history, DSA is a global leader in sport business education. For the fourth consecutive year, and the sixth time in seven years, Ohio University’s Master of Sports Administration (MSA) program was named the best postgraduate sports management program in the world in 2018 (SportBusiness International). Ohio University’s Sports Administration program maintains close connections with many of our more than 4,000 alumni, most of whom work in the sport industry. DSA graduates provide a crucial base of support for our programs, including hosting interns, serving as mentors, providing consulting and research projects, serving as guest lecturers, and providing financial support. The College of Business at Ohio University is AACSB accredited and is home to over 3,800 students. The DSA is accredited by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA). 
 
About The AECOM Center for Sports Administration 
The AECOM Center for Sports Administration, housed in the DSA, brings together students, alumni, and sport industry executives, and serves as a resource to address the issues facing the sport industry. The AECOM Center plays a vital role in supporting students with experiential learning experiences.
