Assistant Professor of Voice - College of Creative Arts

The West Virginia University School of Music seeks nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Voice.

This is a full-time, nine-month tenure-track appointment. The WVU School of Music invites candidates who demonstrate success in multiple styles of voice, at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The primary assignment is teaching applied voice employing both traditional and contemporary techniques that serve the numerous degree tracks and unique goals of our diverse student population. The needs of the school include tenor, baritone, and bass, but all voice types will be considered. Attracting and maintaining an active studio of voice students is expected. Participation in School of Music activities and faculty governance is required. The candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a national or international professional profile through performance and research/creative activity. Additional teaching responsibilities may include voice pedagogy, stage direction, diction, class voice, voice teaching for musical theatre, jazz, or other duties according to the needs of the School of Music and the abilities and interests of the candidate.

Qualifications :

The successful candidate will be an Outstanding Artist/Teacher who has demonstrated excellence in voice performance and a record of successful teaching in applied voice at the college level. Master’s degree in voice required, doctorate or equivalent professional experience preferred. The School of Music seeks a candidate who will demonstrate exemplary communication skills, collegiality, and the ability to contribute to the artistic, intellectual, and cultural life of the University.
