The Assistant Director of Employer Relations and Event Planning reports to the Director of the Career Development Center and manages all aspects of on-campus recruiting, marketing, and serves as primary liaison to all employers, recruiters, alumni, and volunteers. The position requires a high degree of external visibility with employers in the private, public and non-profit sectors. It involves the development, implementation, and cultivation of initiatives for collaboration with employers that will lead to employment opportunities for Alfred University students.
The Assistant Director will facilitate the nature of the employer/college relationship and appropriateness of services/referrals, strategically cultivate and strengthen communication with and between employers, students, and faculty, to maximize student employment outcomes and college resources, expand new employment opportunities and fundraising/revenue potential. Schedules and assures effective implementation of employer recruiting activities for entry-level, co-op, internship and full-time employment, including information sessions, interviews, along with marketing strategies directed to students. The Assistant Director of Employer Relations and Event Planning will handle day-to-day management of the office when director is not available, and demonstrate an ability to work with a diverse student population, and serves as an advocate for that diversity.
*This position will be a Coordinator or Assistant Director position, depending on experience.
Requirements:
- Formal Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Experience: At least two years of experience in college
recruiting, human resources, employer
relations, management and supervision of staff, marketing, or related fields preferred. - Additional Knowledge/Skills:
- High level of professionalism; able to interact effectively with everyone from interns to CEOs.
- High level of computer expertise, including database
administration, career-related internet
sites, proficient in Microsoft Office, and various social media platforms. - High level of confidentiality required in all matters, especially with student meetings, handling resumes, and employment situations.
- Must be deadline-oriented and committed to quick, accurate turnaround of assignments.
- An outgoing customer service-oriented style, effective in building relationships through in-person, phone and online networking required.
- High level of cultural sensitivity and strong interest in working with a diverse population.
