Program Manager

Position Summary

The program manager is responsible for planning and managing the operations of assigned programs and courses in the Office of Executive Education. This will be achieved by successful coordination and implementation of the logistical details, including building relationships with staff, faculty, vendors, and executive participants. This position requires that the person be able to work under demanding conditions

without daily supervision and to be able to exercise initiative, discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance. The program manager informs, supports, and advises the associate dean, executive director, and director on all aspects of program planning and implementation.

Essential Functions
  • Administers program operations, ensuring efficient, effective and productive operations
  • Creates and implements plans to achieve program objectives and mission
  • Interprets, implements, and ensures compliance with policies and regulations and recommends changes to procedures and processes
  • Analyzes data, identifies trends, develops reports and recommends and implements changes to improve alignment with institutional mission and goals
  • Creates and implements outreach plans that may include relationship development, communications, event and conference management
  • Provides support in developing relationships with internal and external entities
  • May assist with fundraising activities
  • Creates budget plans, monitors and approves expenditures, develops reports, conducts analyses and manages and maintains financial records
  • For academic programs, may be responsible for graduate student recruitment and admissions, student records, curriculum support, coordinating the accreditation process, managing scholarships and fellowships, and monitoring student progress
  • May supervise small staff (up to three full time staff)
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Flexible scheduling and remote work are offered, but onsite presence is regularly required
  • Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Occasional evening or weekend events may require irregular work hours.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 years of administrative experience
  • No substitutions for education or experience allowed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional experience in an institution of higher education, a corporate environment, or non-profit organizations that includes experience in public relations, alumni relations, corporate relations, or other closely related experience.
  • Strong sales and customer service is desirable
  • Experience using registration and/or customer relationship management software
  • Ability to initiate and develop new strategies
  • Ability to manage programs and events
  • Advanced problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules
  • Adept at creating contingency plans and handling issues when necessary
  • Strong client service orientation and attention to detail
  • Ability to oversee and direct staff
  • Knowledge of managing budgets and developing financial plans
