Augustana University invites applications for the Assistant Director of Student Engagement position we have open within the university’s Student Affairs Division.

The office of Student Engagement connects students with each other and prepares leaders who will have a positive impact in a global society. The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing a variety of involvement initiatives including oversight for recognized student organizations.


Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
• Oversee the successful student-led planning and implementation of large-scale annual programming that supports major campus traditions and weekly programming, and community building.
• Develop sustainability and development plans for long-term organizational health.
• Serve as an advisor and primary staff liaison for all student clubs and organizations, to include the oversight for annual registration, ongoing training and development, and annual budgets.
• Serve as primary student clubs and organizations software administrator.
• Chair the campus-wide events committee.
• Manage and maintain different project budgets.
• Advise multiple student boards.
• Review contracts and maintain communication and strong relationships with agents.
• Collaborate with and maintain strong relationships with campus and community partners.
• Advise the selection and training processes for student leaders.
• Collaborate with the Student Engagement team in achieving goals of the department.
• Create a comprehensive leadership development program.
• Develop and implement department-wide assessment plan and diversity strategic plan.
• Review and develop organizational and departmental practices to increase access for diverse populations and ensure an inclusive environment for all students.
• Represent the office of student engagement on student affairs or campus-wide committees as well as the division of student affairs at university functions, programs, activities, and events.
• Assess student needs and make referrals to appropriate offices and services.


Qualifications:
• A Master’s degree preferred.
• A record of experience working with college students in a residential setting.
• Responsibility within student activities, orientation, leadership development, service-learning or other relevant experience on a university campus preferred.
• The successful candidate will also possess the following:

  •  A theoretical and practical knowledge of student development, its application within a residential environment, and a demonstrated ability to encourage and support diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to create conditions that are accepting of differences regardless of gender, race, religion, abilities, class, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression and political affiliation.
  • Practical knowledge of program evaluation and assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
