It is scheduled to begin in the Fall term of 2023-2024.

Our bachelor of social work program has a critically reflective generalist focus, grounded in diverse ways of knowing and integrated practice. Our faculty are committed to adding innovative elements to our curriculum that further a critical approach to social injustices arising from multiple and intersecting forms of oppression and inequality. Our goal is to hire faculty who bring a decolonized perspective to teaching and heightened awareness of deeply embedded socio-political dynamics impacting institutions as well as the individuals, families and communities we teach and serve. TheBSWprogram is starting a Child Advocacy Studies (CAST) certificate and is looking for a dynamic faculty member who can help develop, lead, and teachCASTcourses. We offerBSWandMSWprograms within our Department and both are thriving and well respected in the practice community. We are also a part of the Henrietta Schmoll School of Health which allows us to integrate learning with other healthcare degree programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach six (6) courses per year in traditional classroom, online and hybrid environments.
  • Communicate respectfully and build relationships of trust with people of all cultures and abilities, affirming the worth and preserving the dignity of individuals, families, and communities.
  • Develop, coordinate and teach within theCASTcertificate. This will include community outreach and working with the Director of Simulation.
  • Foster a culture of inclusive excellence through authentic relationships with students as an educator, an advisor, and a mentor
  • Engage in academic advising with students, monitoring and assessing student learning outcomes and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on academic performance.
  • Develop an active program of research in their area of interest and expertise to advance the discipline and inform classroom teaching.
  • Monitor curriculum content and make recommendations as appropriate to maintain relevance.
  • Effectively contribute to the highly collaborative work of the Department.
  • Provide service to the Department and University.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate in social work or a related area.
    • ABDapplicantswillbe accepted, but doctorate must be reflected on transcript 30 days prior to the start date.
  • Two years postMSWpractice experience.
  • Experience teaching in a college or university setting.
  • Current and validLGSWlicense in the State of Minnesota, or immediate eligibility for graduate license or higher.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of experience teaching social work in a college or university setting.
  • At least two years of experience in child welfare or working with children and families impacted by child maltreatment
  • Two years of experience with community outreach and/or program development
  • Critical, self-reflective pedagogy, and anti-oppressive practice experience.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring diverse student populations.
