Job Summary/Basic Function
The principal role of the Coordinator of Collection Services is to help guide the diverse and complex processes performed by Collection Management, which seeks to provide an array of information resources and resource types based on the curricular needs of Liberty University. In collaboration with the direction of the Head of Collection Management, this position oversees implementation of collection management projects and goals. The Coordinator of Collection Services also assists with coverage of the reference desk at the Customer Service Center and has liaison duties to one or more departments at Liberty University. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Functions as the department team-lead on routine operations pertaining to physical and electronic collections.
2. Assists in coordination of recurring, annual departmental targets pertaining to information resource performance assessment and renewal, contract reviews, and other critical deadlines.
3. Guides collection analysis and benchmarking for the department to assist with curricular growth and accreditation requirements.
4. Covers the reference desk at the Customer Service Center as assigned by the Coordinator of Research and Instruction.
5. Performs liaison duties to one or more academic departments as assigned, which include bibliographic instruction sessions as requested, development and maintenance of online research guides, and handling of research questions by email or phone.
6. Demonstrates the ability to work in and with diverse populations, supporting an equitable and inclusive environment.
7. Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks.
8. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
Minimum Qualifications
· MLS degree from an ALA -accredited program, or equivalent
· Commitment to Christian higher education and endorsement of Liberty University’s doctrinal statement
· Familiarity with academic library collection management functions
· Experience managing staff or teams
· Ability and willingness to work with colleagues in collaborative and team environments, as well as independently
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
§ Second master’s degree
§ Previous academic library experience in collection management
Work Hours
This is a faculty position working business hours with occasional evening and weekend events.
