Provides assistance and expertise in various areas of research such as calibration of instrumentation, equipment maintenance and repair, preparation of samples for testing, monitoring of safety equipment and procedures, development and fabrication of prototype equipment, recording of test results, and basic analyses of data. Ensures experiments are preformed according to specification. May make practical technical recommendations to changes in procedures, equipment, or prototype design. Develops basic skill set. Duties: Simple and may be repetitive. May assist in advanced functions as part of training. Refers questions and problems to higher levels. Supervision: Immediate supervision is available. Verbal or written instructions are usually detailed.

Duties:
Handle multiple large and/or complex petroleum geochemistry experiments or research projects with minimal supervision.
Safely operate and perform maintenance of the following research equipment: Soxhlet Extraction, Rotary Evaporation, LECO TOC, RockEval pyrolysis, Gas Chromatograph, Hydrous Pyrolysis equiupment, GC-MS, Liquid Chromatography for SARA and PIN fractionation, Kerogen Isolation apparatus and X-Ray Diffraction.
Perform daily equipment checks, gas tank readings, and associated calibration/maintenance if necessary.
Apply Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting.
Assist fellow researchers with daily lab operation, report writing and office duties.
Consult with research staff on the effectiveness of methods being employed in the lab, and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate
Frequently help move heavy laboratory equipment
Maintain a safe and clean laboratory work environment and be active in reporting or notifying lab supervisor of any unsafe work conditions.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's and no experience
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Petroleum Engineering, Geochemistry, or related field. Prior work experience in Oil and Gas industry preferred.
Knowledge of software tools e.g., Matlab, C++, VBA preferred.
Experienced in handling hazardous or corrosive chemicals (HF, HCl, Ammonium Hydroxide, Chromic Acid)
Able to accurately, clearly and concisely communicate in both written and verbal manner in English at the level required to perform the duties as outlined.
Possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to %5Cwork hours, policies, and standard business etiquette
Be willing to learn and apply established industry practices for geochemical analyses.
