Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology

Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Speech-Language Pathology

Tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology beginning August 2023. Faculty with expertise in adult neurogenic communication disorders, including expertise in voice disorders, dysphagia, and/or speech science, are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have a Doctoral degree in speech-language pathology or a related field. ABD applications will be considered with initial appointment at the Instructor rank; all degree requirements must be completed by February 28, 2024. ASHA CCC-SLP certification and current (or eligibility for) Maryland licensure are required. Candidates wishing to be considered for the rank of Associate Professor should have at least 6 years of experience teaching in higher education or comparable qualifications, and demonstrate a clear line of scholarship with outcomes. Candidates should have a commitment to working with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students and to cultivating and strengthening a diverse and inclusive healthcare workforce. Primary responsibilities include: (1) Teaching: Research-active instructors teach 6 course units (equivalent to 18 credits) over a 9-month academic year in a highly diverse, student-focused program, provide high-quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and advise and mentor students as they matriculate through the program and prepare to enter the profession (clinical supervision may also be included); (2) Scholarship: Development/continuation of a focused area of research that includes peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations, grant funding, and involvement in scholarly projects with students; and (3) Service: Active service participation at the department, college, university, community, and professional levels.
