Samford University’s School of the Arts department of Architecture & Interior Design invites individuals interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for an Assistant Professor (tenure track) position, beginning August 2023. This full-time, faculty position is a 9-month appointment, teaching interior design.

The School of the Arts is a community of artists working together in music, theatre and dance, visual arts, architecture and interior design. The Department of Architecture & Interior Design is currently comprised of four full-time faculty members and offers a BFA in interior design as well as a 5-year accelerated Master of Architecture degree. The BFA in Interior Design degree program is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, and the Master of Architecture will be seeking NAAB accreditation.  New faculty will continue the success of Samford’s current Interiors program and aid in the ongoing development of the new Architecture program.

Qualified candidates will be graduates of an accredited school with an earned master’s degree with specialization in interior design, interior architecture, or a closely related area.  Professional design experience, successful teaching experience, registration or licensure, and NCIDQ certification are strongly preferred. NCIDQ Certification will be required if hired. Preference may be given to candidates who have significant professional work experience in the field of interior design; proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe, and rendering programs; LEED accredited or WELL certified professional; and relevant teaching experience including upper-level design studios.
