College of Liberal Arts & Sciences: Clinical Assistant Professor - Psychology

The Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign invites applications for a specialized faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor.

The Psychological Services Center (PSC) is the training center for the Psychology department’s PCSAS- and APA-accredited Ph.D. Clinical-Community Psychology program and serves children and adults in the greater Champaign-Urbana and surrounding areas. The PSC supports a range of services, typically supervised by program faculty, including therapy and assessment as well as program development and program evaluation support with local service delivery systems. The Clinical-Community Psychology Program endorses a clinical-scientist training model. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to training in a research-focused, clinical-community science doctoral program in a position that combines clinical supervision, teaching, and involvement in supporting the Department’s research mission. 

The successful candidate will function in the areas of diagnostic services, teaching and clinical supervision, consultation, and public engagement. 

Duties & Responsibilities
Service duties will include the direct provision of:

  • Collaborates with Clinical-Community program faculty and external training sites in planning and executing training efforts for Clinical-Community graduate students.

Teaching and clinical supervision duties will include:

  • Teaching and training graduate students in the evidence-based practice of clinical psychology
  • Teaching graduate courses.
  • Providing both practicum instruction and clinical supervision of therapy and assessment cases

Consultation duties will include:

  • Collaboration with faculty and researchers across campus departments to meet clinical needs and support grant-related activities.
    Management of clinical support staff.
  • Provision of feedback to the Director of Clinical Training and staff members to ensure that all aspects of daily operations are effectively facilitating the PSC’s objectives.
  • Responsible for administrative oversight and leadership of the clinic, including coverage of clinic hours, consultation on emergencies, running clinic-related meetings, developing and implementing policy, and maintaining adherence to APA accreditation standards.

Public engagement duties may include:

  • Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with staff members and researchers across various units at the University.

This position also incorporates a Director of the PSC administrative position as well.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Clinical or Community Psychology from a PCSAS or APA-accredited program and be licensed, or license-eligible, as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois. Applicants must also have a demonstrated appreciation of psychology as a science, an ability to incorporate a scientific focus and research perspective into clinical practice and any courses taught, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their clinical practice. Clinical-track faculty and full members of the faculty and are expected to demonstrate excellent in the areas of clinical practice/application, service/engagement, and clinical/graduate education for promotion.

Appointment Information
This position is a 12/12-month, full-time, non-tenure clinical-track appointment. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline date. The position provides a base salary in addition to an administrative stipend.  Salary is commensurate with experience.
