Position, Department: Director of Campus Services and Energy Management, Operations

Type of Position: Full-time Salaried, Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., 40 hours per week

Pay Grade/Pay Range: $35.37 - $44.21 hourly ($73,851-$92,314 annually) *Actual pay depends on qualifications

Position Summary: Position is responsible for planning, organizing leading and supervising the maintenance functions of Campus Services which includes HVAC/Building Automation; life safety systems; electrical; plumbing; carpentry; grounds, utilities and transportation. Focus on energy management relates to planning, regulating and monitoring energy use in all buildings and systems - balancing conservation and occupant comfort.

Responsible for 2.3 million dollar maintenance budget and 3 million dollar utility budget. Responsible for service contract initiation and administration. Assists Associate VP with the planning and management of remodeling projects, Capital Infrastructure projects, master planning and new construction projects. The Campus Services department consists of approximately 25 full time and 18 part time team members who maintain JCCC's 235 acres campus with over 1.6 million square feet in 24 plus buildings on the main campus plus two remote locations.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, management, business or related field (experience may substitute for degree)
Five years of full time directly related experience including management/supervision experience
Energy management training, certification or experience
Advanced knowledge of HVAC pertaining to energy management, building controls and building occupant comfort
Understand and relate effectively to diverse groups including faculty, students, administrators, architects, engineers, contractors and vendors

Preferred Qualifications: Three years experience specifically in a college or university setting
Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws and codes relating to college facilities operations
Energy management certification such as Certified Energy Manager designation from the Association of Energy Engineers
Completion of formal higher education facilities management training such as the APPA Institute for Facilities Management

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Supervise maintenance supervisors and their team members in the areas of carpentry; HVAC; electrical/plumbing; grounds and transportation
  • Monitor energy usage and expense while also meeting occupant comfort standards
  • Plan, specify, and supervise repair, remodeling and Capital Infrastructure projects
  • Prepare budgets and provide cost accounting for maintenance, grounds and transportation
  • Main duty - Assist Associate VP with planning and oversite of major new construction
