This inaugural position serves as the lead coordinating administrator to ensure the successful implementation of the goals and action strategies in Georgia Tech’s Cultivate Well-Being Action & Transformation Roadmaps in support of one of the six focus areas of the Institute’s Strategic Plan. One Roadmap focuses on enhancing student health, wellness, and well-being, while the other focuses on that of faculty and staff, including undergraduate and graduate student employees. The incumbent will foster inter-organizational partnerships and provide change management coordination, facilitation, and assistance with broad independent latitude, in a manner that reflects sound tactical acumen and the strategic values of Georgia Tech.

This position will interact on a regular basis with: faculty, staff, students, administrators, alumni, stakeholders, leaders, and guests.

This position typically will advise and counsel: all cabinet areas, colleges, divisions, and departments – as well as shared governance entities, community, and governmental partners.  This position will supervise: assigned staff

 

Job Duty 1
Create and sustain the five conditions that contribute to collective impact success, which include (a) generating a common agenda and common understanding of the problem and the proposed solutions; (2) defining shared measurement systems and reaching agreement on how success will be measured and reported; (3) delineating mutually reinforcing activities, where each partner undertake specific initiatives in which they have expertise or strengths, and coordinates them with other partners; (4) engaging in continuous communication so as to build and sustain trust as well as enable accountability; and (5) providing a backbone support organization to coordinate structured decision-making processes, as well as plan, manage and support initiatives through ongoing facilitation, logical and administrative support, and technical assistance.

Job Duty 2
Establish ongoing collaborative partnerships and work effectively to advance the goals and strategies of the Cultivate Well-Being strategic plan, with a broad range of constituents and stakeholders who represent a diverse range of identities, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, including but not limited to (a) Georgia Tech students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni; (b) University System of Georgia administrators, colleagues and Board of Regents; and (c) families and parents, community members, donors, governmental representatives, and elected officials.

Job Duty 3
Hire, recruit, onboard, supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned staff; in consultation with peer and college-division-based communications/marketing units, coordinate and oversee communications and outreach related to planning, implementation, and evaluation of Georgia Tech’s efforts in support of the Cultivate Well-Being Action & Transformation Roadmaps.

Job Duty 4
Delegate the personnel and programmatic budget allocated to support the Cultivate Well-Being focus area, consistent with all applicable fiscal policies; identify and secure alternatives sources of funding support and monitor their effective expenditure and investment to support strategic goals and action strategies, e.g., grants and other extramural funding, gifts/donations, and in-kind contributions; prepare budget requests, documents and reports that make a compelling case for additional funding as needed.

Job Duty 5
Assemble and coordinate meetings and other activities for administrative bodies and shared governance organizations that have been developed to support implementation of the Cultivate Well-Being Action & Transformation Roadmaps; develop agendas and manage membership and meetings; maintain agenda/materials/notes for administrative, planning, and implementation meetings; plan/coordinate professional development and leadership retreats, implement conferences; and host other events that build capacity in support of strategic priorities and goals. As needed, represent the Vice President for Student Engagement & Well-Being, who serves as Executive Sponsor for the Cultivate Well-Being strategic focus area, in administrative meetings related to Institute-wide strategic planning efforts, and with various stakeholders, e.g., parents, alumni, student leaders, governmental representatives, community organization members, etc., to solicit feedback/suggestions, receive complaints/concerns, or answer questions and requests for information.

Job Duty 6
Prepare annual reports and other submittals; draft and disseminate monthly, quarterly, and/or semesterly updates that monitor progress and provide transparency on various goals and action strategies. Monitor evolving trends, emerging practices, and best practices in the areas of health, wellness, and well-being promotion, both generally and specifically to the higher education setting; help disseminate this information to the Institute community to inform and enhance implementation efforts. Ensure the infusion of an equity framework into decision-making and policy-setting, and advance an interdependent, integrated approach for public health, well-being, diversity and inclusion, and social justice initiatives, that is grounded in evidence-based practices and solutions and is informed by institutional data, both quantitative and qualitative.

Job Duty 7
Collaborate with assigned unit to determine key milestones and timelines to guide implementation and delivery of desired outcomes and impacts; identify gaps in capacity and collaboratively determines viable solutions to redress.

Job Duty 8
Confirm timely and appropriate assessment and evaluation of implementation efforts in collaboration with Georgia Tech’s Institutional Research & Planning and college-/division-based research/assessment units; make recommendations regarding adjustments to the strategic plan to respond to evolving contexts and realities, as well as anticipate impending impacts that may require the Institute to pivot proactively with regards to their planning and implementation efforts.

Educational Requirements
Master's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Eight to ten years of job-related experience

 

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Terminal degree from an accredited institution of higher education, in a field relevant to the primary responsibilities.

Preferred Experience
Twelve or more years of progressively responsible administrative experience including in a higher education setting, preferably in health or wellness promotion, prevention, or community/public health for students and faculty/staff.

Experience chairing, convening, facilitating and/or leading complex campus-wide initiatives or strategic planning/implementation efforts that require extensive collaboration sustained over time. Experience leading or playing a pivotal role in leading a sustained cultural change or organizational transformation effort. Direct experience with fund- or friend-raising efforts. Direct experience with successfully applying for extramural grant funding.

Abilities
Established record as a solutions-oriented leader, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Proven ability to handle potentially sensitive or volatile situations with tact, political acumen, courtesy, and compassion. Proven ability to achieve a high-level of performance even in the face of ambiguity, resistance, and challenge.
The incumbent will need to be able to work some evening and weekend hours in order to effectively fulfill core responsibilities. As such, there will be options for telework and flexible work week schedules to better accommodate assigned duties and core mission.

Knowledge
Effective knowledge in socio-ecological change strategies in the areas of risk-reduction and prevention, health behavior, wellness promotion, and well-being, as well as leverage linkages with the other five focus areas where feasible: Amplify Impact, Champion Innovation, Connect Globally, Expand Access, and Lead By Example.

Skills
Experience with developing and managing budgets and with effectively supervising staff. Highly effective administrative, organizational, change management, and interpersonal skills. Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating activities, events, initiatives, and interventions which improve health outcomes, foster wellness, and enhance well-being for a diverse community of individuals. Experience leading successful social, cultural and/or transformational change efforts. Experience with assessment, evaluation, and quality improvement.
