Description
The Psychological Science Department seeks a teacher-scholar with a strong record of teaching excellence to join our faculty. As a full-time contract faculty member, this individual will teach courses in the department and remain current in their specialty area. They are also asked to contribute to the professional life of the Department of Psychological Science and perform other duties as assigned by the department’s chair. The typical academic load for contract faculty in our department is 12 credit hours for teaching each semester, with the possibility of course overloads.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in psychology or closely related field from an accredited institution; at least one semester of experience teaching psychology-related courses and/or serving as a teaching assistant for psychology-related courses.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate one or more of the following qualifications: doctoral degree in psychology or closely related field from an accredited institution; experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level in a psychology program or a closely related field; experience teaching courses, or a history of applied work or academic research, in a field of psychology that encompasses one or more of our department’s areas of academic/research concentration (bio/neuro, psychopathology/clinical, social/diversity, industrial/organizational, cognition/learning, development, and/or stats/research); and a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. Our department’s needs assessment indicates a strong preference for individuals with experience/potential to teach courses in industrial/organizational, diversity or bio/neuro psychology.
