Job Description Summary
Bentley University seeks to hire a Deputy Title IX Coordinator to join the newly established Office of Institutional Equity. The Institutional Equity Office works to ensure the University's efforts to achieve inclusive excellence by centralizing the reporting systems and ensuring consistency in response to incidents of sexual misconduct, relationship violence, stalking, discrimination, harassment and bias for all community members including students and employees. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Director of the Office of Institutional Equity/Title IX Coordinator to develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and practices that comply with all federal and state legislation and regulation related to identity-based discrimination, harassment, and sexual and gender-based violence. The individual in this role with be responsible for the report intake process, case management, and implementing supportive measures for impacted parties. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator will also be responsible for developing and delivering training on relevant topics within the community.

Essential Duties

  • Receive and process inquiries and reports of all complaints of sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and bias from students, employees, and other stakeholders in a prompt and effective manner.
  • Ensure an equitable process by providing a fair and neutral objective experience for both complainants and respondents, including offering resources and options for support.
  • Assess and, when appropriate, implement requests for supportive measures, including but not limited to accommodations for academics, housing, counseling, orders of protection, and other measures required to lessen the impact of bias, discrimination, relationship violence, stalking, or sexual misconduct.
  • Coordinate the investigation of reported incidents with external investigators
  • Communicate in trauma-informed ways with all parties through clearly written letters, emails, reports, and summaries to initiate, further, and resolve all reports.
  • Effectively maintain accurate records of all case material through the existing case management system.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with offices across campus, including Human Resources, the Residential Center, office of Academic Services, and others, to provide appropriate accommodations for parties involved in the reporting process.
  • Work closely with the Sexual Assault Resource and Advocacy Coordinator to provide access to support and resources for students.
  • Develop and deliver training and professional development on sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and bias, relationship violence, and stalking to ensure compliance and to expand capacity of community.
  • Create and distribute educational materials, including brochures, posters, and web-based materials that inform members of the University (students, faculty, and staff) of Title IX rights, responsibilities and resources both within and external to school/campus premises.
  • Collaborate with University Police to ensure the accuracy of reporting annual crime statistics, as required by the Cleary Act.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert and resource for the community on requirements of and compliance with Title IX law.
  • Possess a commitment to ongoing training and professional development to ensure compliance with evolving law and best practices.
  • Provide impacted parties with options for informal resolution of disputes, including mediation and conflict resolution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of prior experience in a Title IX/EEO/Civil Right office, with knowledge and experience:
  • Coordinating, investigating, or adjudicating claims of discrimination, harassment, or other related claims and reviewing and interpreting investigative reports in an educational institution, state or federal agency, or private sector organization.
  • Interpreting & applying applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and executive orders pertaining to Title IX.
  • Developing and implementing training programs.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience in restorative practices, conflict resolution, or mediation, or willingness to be trained.


Work Environment

  • Travel around campus for meetings and other work-related events required
  • Typical office environment with extensive sitting and computer work
